Introduction

A modern-style staircase with glass, set within a loft in the historic city center. The space is characterized by white-painted exposed beams and a striking design in natural acid-treated steel, defining the contemporary language of the project.

Design

The staircase combines glass with a bold design in natural acid-treated steel, selected for its raw material quality and its ability to integrate seamlessly into the space without overpowering it. The intervention stands out for its essential contemporary language, conceived as a central architectural feature within the living environment.

Strenght becomes the frame of fragility

Detail 1

The staircase was designed with an open riser, allowing maximum light to flow through the space. The tread is extremely thin, made of 10 mm steel plate, enhancing the sense of visual lightness

"

Lighting should evolve with us, responding intuitively to our environment.

Iteration 2

This intervention features a natural steel sheet cladding, conceived as a second skin of the house. The design reflects and interprets the identity of the building: a loft in the city center, defined by historic exposed beams and a convivial open-space mezzanine, designed to be lived and shared.

The steel skin gives the space a new character, engaging in dialogue with the existing architecture without overpowering it. The material—natural steel preserved with beeswax—was installed without visible fixings, using a system that creates the impression of a surface perfectly bonded to the wall, reinforcing the sense of material continuity and architectural clarity.

Finishes

Advanced solar panels that maximize energy efficiency, providing sustainable power solutions for homes and businesses worldwide.

Conclusion

The final phase of the project extended steel as a unifying thread throughout the space, from the staircase to the vertical surfaces and into the furniture itself. Within the wardrobes, a 2 cm gap was intentionally left between the doors, behind which a thin steel skin was installed, subtle yet clearly perceptible.

This approach creates a strong material continuity: steel is no longer just an architectural element, but a recurring presence, connecting staircase, walls, and furnishings into a cohesive and contemporary language.
