A showroom steps from the Duomo, designed by Massimo Castagna, where Scapini Atelier crafted the entire metal cladding and both staircases.
THE WORK
A vertical project, read across several floors. Scapini Atelier produced the complete metal cladding of the space and its two staircases: a monumental structure connecting the basement, and a fan-shaped flight rising around a totemic volume at the centre of the showroom. Every panel was made to measure, cut and shaped to follow complex geometries and to meet the volumes without visible compromise. Where the surfaces meet the stairs, cladding and structure were designed as one piece rather than two trades.
THE FINISHES
Acid-treated metal throughout. The surface reacts to light rather than sitting still beneath it, generating deep, ever-changing reflections that redraw the space as the day moves. It is a finish that makes the material feel alive — the reason the showroom reads as sculpture rather than fit-out. Metalwork & Staircases: Scapini Atelier · Concept & Art Direction: Massimo Castagna.
